For the past week A hasn't been feeling well. Once I noticed something wasn't quite right I went through the whole mommy checklist in my head to try and figure out what could be wrong.
First I thought it was her teeth. But after a day or so on pain meds she wasn't feeling any better.
So I then started to think it was her tummy due to the introduction of whole milk. I gave her a few doses of Colic Calm and cut dairy out of her diet for 24 hours to see if there would be a difference. Nope.
And then the fever begins.
Last night, right before bed, I noticed that A felt a little warm. I got out the thermometer and took her temp, it read 102. I was surprised. I then gave her the usual Tylenol before bed and didn't think anything else of it. That was until this morning when I went to get her up.
She was on fire!
I quickly got the thermometer again and took her temp. Now it read 103.5! Begin mommy freak out mode. I quickly called the Dr to see if they could get us in before I had to go to work in the afternoon. Fortunately they were able to see us at 9am. Once we got there, the Dr checked her over and couldn't find anything wrong with her. Everything looked great. Her ears, chest, and throat all looked fine. That's when we were told to play the waiting game. Wait to see what was going to happen next.
At 3:30pm I arrived back home after work. Jamie had called me about a half hour earlier to tell me she was still hot so I told him to go ahead and give her the meds. I then took her temp and it was now 104.1! Official mommy panic now. I pick up the phone to call the Dr just to check how high her fever should get before I need to bring her in for medical treatment. They then told me that it wasn't so much how high it got, just a matter of if I can get it down. At this point she had her meds in her for almost an hour, so for her temp to still be that high, we were concerned. Fortunately, about 15 minutes later she began to sweat and broke her fever.
As of right now (9pm) she's been hovering around the 100 degree mark. Her Dr did tell me that might be as low as we could get it since it was so high to begin with. I just hope that she can break this overnight so we won't have to head back to the doctor in the morning. Otherwise it's going to be yet another long day.
